MasterCard Announces M/Chip Advance Requirement for Chip Cards & Non-Mobile Payment Devices

On August 17th, MasterCard announced the requirement to move all chip card and non-mobile payment devices to the M/Chip Advance product.

Perfect Plastic Printing wants to encourage its’ customers to get ahead of these changes and begin the migration now!

As announced in a recent Application Note [AN 1528] to Issuers and Processors whereby, by April 1st, 2021, issuers will be required to issue all cards and non-mobile payment devices using an M/Chip Advance product, Mastercard announces that it will discontinue the Product Approval Process against the following specifications:
– M/Chip 4 Select/Lite v1.1x
– PayPass M/Chip 4 v1.3 and v1.4
– PayPass M/Chip Flex v1.1
The following changes are applicable to card and non-mobile form factors:
a) Approval by Mastercard of new products developed against the aforementioned specifications will no longer be possible as of April 1st, 2020. Registration requests for Approval will not be allowed after this date.
b) Approval Renewal for products developed against the aforementioned specifications will no longer be possible as of April 1st, 2020. Registration requests for Approval Renewal will not be allowed after this date. Requests for LoAs for End-of-Life products will remain possible.
c) Effective immediately all new approval/renewal LoA validities (including LoAs for End-of-Life products) will be limited to April 1st, 2021.
